Environmental Improvements at Riverside Walk, Virginia Water

This project seeks funding to carry out a number of environmental improvements at Riverside Walk, Virginia Water, improving access and sustaining the biodiversity of a popular nature conservation area.
Specifically – coppice and glade clearance – Alder and Hazel trees have formed such a dense canopy that coppicing and glade clearance is now required to increase the level of light to the woodland floor allowing growth of smaller native plants and in turn increasing wildlife.
Invasive plant control – large areas of skunk cabbage and rhododendrons require clearance and control. Both are aggressive, invasive plants and without management will take over and destroy other native species
