Improving Community Facilities – Phase 3

Chapter would like to transform one of its accessible toilets into a Changing Places toilet which is able to cater for the needs of those with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Changing Places toilets are different to standard disabled toilets with extra features and more space to meet these needs. People with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as other serious impairments such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis or an acquired brain injury, often need extra facilities to allow them to use the toilets comfortably. We have been offered equipment including a changing bench and a hoist from Mencap Cymru and Parker Plant to adapt one of our existing toilets and now need to cover the installation costs, some of which are significant.

We also require funding to upgrade our platform lift which serves our main Cinema. The current lift is over 15 years old, frequently breaks down and is not large enough for electric wheelchairs.
