Northern Forest Flagship Woodland Project.

Small Woods Association would like to embark on a project to restore a large area of woodland in the north of England which would be utilised as a site for social forestry. The project seeks to identify and acquire a significant area (80+ Acres) secondary/contaminated land in the North of England.
The area would contribute to the plans for the Northern Forest area in order to add to the overall efforts towards achieving the forest cover we all want and in order to promote community woodlands and provide a venue for training. We would be working in collaboration with the Woodland Trust and with one of our key corporate sponsors to provide volunteer opportunities, alongside opportunities for groups to use the woodland for its health and wellbeing benefits.
Ideally we would like to find a site with existing woodland, and where we could extend the wooded area significantly. Our ideal site would include coppice restoration.
