Provision of Guide Tracks for the Visually Impaired in Addlestone, Surrey – Pilot Scheme

This project seeks funding to conduct a pilot scheme for guide tracks for the visually impaired at the new Addlestone Community Centre building.

The scheme involves the installation of two thermoplastic lines from the ‘drop off’ area to the main entrance for use by those with guide canes. Tactile surfacing indicating the beginning and end of the guide path is included within the scheme.

The guide path will facilitate independent mobility for the visually impaired who face serious problems when moving around the built and pedestrian environment. It is intended to use the information gained from the pilot scheme to prepare a full feasibility study
