Tamar Valley Orchard Establishment

Designated an AONB, the Tamar Valley was once a centre for orchards and market gardening. Revival of the orchards, using original fruit tree varieties and organic farming methods, is planned to regenerate this distinctive feature. The project will have a management system that sets up trial plots where waste derived compost will be used as a mulch and compost along with extracts from composted green waste that will be used as disease and pest control. Evaluation will be based on quality of fruit, end use, disease resistance, storage and commercial development.
