Project details below
Goleulong 2000 Lightship, Cardiff Bay
The Lightship was originally a Trinity House vessel - the LV14, and it was purchased by the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation who wished to ensure a Christian presence within the Bay as part of the ongoing regeneration and development of the area. The ship was gifted to a local ecumenical project (a registered charity representing four denominations) and was opened to the public in 1994; it has since been permanently moored (Lightships typically do not have any means of self-propulsion) in Roath Basin. The Lightship has listed status on the National Historic Ships register and provides a Place of Worship combined with a visitor attraction, including on-board cafe. The equipment/fittings used in the cafe has become outdated and this project aims to refit the galley area of the Lightship in order to provide an enhanced visitor experience.
