Greener Grangetown

Grangetown, Cardiff is a thriving urban community of almost 20,000 residents with a population density nearly twice the average of the city; it is one of the most diverse communities of any council ward in Wales. This unique project will create multiple green spaces, including ‘rain gardens’, within a design framework that will protect the natural, built and social environment through sustainable water management. It will include works to make a safer cycling route along the Taff Embankment. The River Taff runs alongside and to the east of Grangetown and the ‘embankment’ includes a footpath and cycle way linking the city centre to Cardiff Bay. The ‘Taff Trail’ Cycle route forms part of the National Cycle Network (Route 8); it attracts an ever growing number of visitors whilst providing a means of sustainable transport for the local community. The trail provides recreation for cyclists and walkers. Please also refer to our email attachment to Ann Davies today for more project details.
